Jim was amazing. He took my case to trial as I was innocent and was not interested in taking a plea deal. He never tried to convince me to change my mind and was supportive throughout the whole process. In court he was extremely knowledgeable, citing case law, arguing against the relevance of case law that the prosecutor and judge cited, was great on cross examination, and amazing with the jury. Hopefully I never find myself in the situation again, but if I ever need his services will not hesitate to retain him. Thank you Jim.

Incredibly competent, kind and professional. Mr. Merson was fantastic throughout my entire process in municipal court. I was concerned with my situation and had no clue where to begin. Merson should be your first and only call!!! Jim is the man!!! I was charged with multiple felonies in 2023 and was incarcerated and working with a different attorney that was no help whatsoever. My family got in touch with Jim, and ended up retaining him. He took over and quickly got things rolling extremely quickly. I had never been in legal trouble before and had no idea what was going on. Jim Merson embodies the very ideals I believe are the original reasons most people believe in and want to fight for when each makes their decision to pursue a career in law. For me, personally, he asked for very little, although the things he did I adhered to and he was able to deliver a deal I am still amazed even came together. In the past Defense Lawyers and District Attorneys talks and outcomes felt rushed and just something in the way of their joint tee times and after court cocktails. Jim practiced law. He took what positive changes I made in my life along with evidence presented and was able to arrange an agreement I believe every party felt was best for the situation at hand; that includes myself and Jim as well as the DA and Judge. I am forever grateful for his commitment to his passion and would absolutely make him my first and only choice if anything arises where myself or family ever need a lawyer in the future, and I would recommend him to all friends and strangers just the same as my family. Lastly, his ability to read situations and people is impeccable. He always knew when I was becoming frazzled and never failed to deescalate a situation. I can't say enough. The Attorney Who Became a Brother! I was falsely accused of assault with a deadly weapon and four other charges after defending myself in an altercation. The other person pulled a gun on me, attacked me, and fell on his face during the struggle. He then falsely claimed I threw a large rock at him. I hired an attorney (not James Merson) and didn’t want to take a plea deal because I was innocent. After two years of attempts, my attorney never got an offer from the D.A. To be fair, the delay was due to the D.A.'s maternity leave, and communication was pretty bad even after she came back. Maybe because she was catching up on all the other cases? Either way, my attorney didn’t know my case. When we had meetings he wouldn't even remember the basic details. Once, he thought I wasn’t charged with bodily injury, but I corrected him, I knew my case like the back of my hand and I knew I had this report and he spent the rest of the meeting looking for it. I tried to give him the benefit of the doubt and say to myself, “He is not a computer to remember everything”. And also, he has other cases. Even though he didn’t remember the details of my case, he repeatedly pushed me to accept a plea deal if offered one. After 2½ years, we finally set a trial date. But two weeks before trial I got a call from my attorney on a Sunday evening letting me know that he was quitting on me without a reason. We never argued or anything and he was paid in full. Now without an attorney, the D.A. was pushing for felonies. I felt betrayed, wondering if attorneys and D.A.s worked together to pressure people into plea deals. At this point, I could either take the plea deal or I could hire another attorney. I knew I did not commit this crime so I decided to roll the dice and continue fighting for my innocence.
I talked to so many attorneys and the one that stood out was James Merson. On our call he would really listen to me and give me his opinion about the facts of the case. I was skeptical because of my experience with my first attorney. But as time went on, everything was the opposite. James remembered the details of my case. He would tell me that it was up to me if I wanted to go to trial. He told me the risks but he never talked me into anything. He would tell me that if he knew I had a bad case he would try to prevent me from going to trial. But he would tell me that he believed me and that he studied the case and it was a defensible case. Around 6 months James negotiates with the D.A and gets me a great deal with probation and a misdemeanor. I decline and James prepares us for trial. This man looked like he lost sleep preparing for me and took the trial so personal. Throughout the trial James was not only a great intelligent lawyer but a therapist and a great friend! Going through trial had to be the hardest thing I have ever gone through in my entire life! The last day of trial as we are waiting for the verdict James tries to keep my mind off of it and shows me a shot that the Nikola Jokić (the Joker) from the Nuggets took from the other side of the court on his laptop. Finally the Jury walks in and I am found not guilty on all charges. I broke down and tears fell down my face! James was Nikola Jokić in my case! As I lost hope in the legal system, attorneys and even humanity. James shot the ball from the other side to bring that faith back. I will always be grateful for James! After the verdict we celebrated and I remember telling him, “has anyone ever told you that they owe you 10-32 years of their life”? I want you to know that I truly mean that my friend! If you ever need anything, I am here! If you are looking for someone that will fight for you, someone that will take your freedom seriously! Hire James Merson!

About a month later Merson calls me to explain the DA appealed the judge's decision to the Colorado Supreme Court. WTF?!?! That can happen?. Well, it can and did. Could I really trust him with years of my life on the line? Is he going to give me the best defense I deserve? Christ this case is for marijuana in CO. My case continued to the state supreme court where Merson and I again felt total confidence that our motion to suppress the evidence would be recognized as correct and upheld at the state level because it was clearly an illegal search. Merson always responded to my calls and texts even though I'm sure I behaved like I was his only case. I still can't believe that only two of the seven State Supreme Court judges agreed with our position. No matter what Merson was ready and willing to continue the fight for me. God, I wanted to but I had to consider a lot, time, being the main thing. I chose to take a plea which continued to be a headache. Let's not forget during this whole proceeding, which took 2 years, I was technically a fugitive from my original probation in California. Merson even called my probation officer and lawyers in California and was able to arrange a deal to terminate my probation in California, unsuccessful of course, but terminated based on, I was going to be Colorado's problem. Colorado was gonna send me to prison, probation, a program or whatever. Making that happen was no joke since I was facing up to 8 years just in Colorado not including what California could have given me. I'm now one year into 5 years of probation and my 90-day jail sentence. James Merson used all of his knowledge and skills to provide the best representation I could possibly have. But truly the best lawyer I could have had. Now he's able to help you with his own practice and trust you want him working for you! I'm eternally grateful to him. Thanks buddy!

Highly recommended. Was wrongly accused of passing a counterfeit bill retained Mr. Merson as attorney; he not once sugar coated a thing and pointed us in the right direction the entire way. I recently used James on a case I had here in Greeley. He was amazing! He was prompt with all of his responses to me when we were communicating about my case.
